DEBUT LP Point due to drop 11th of December on Future Classic.
Celebrating the news of a forthcoming first record at the end of the year, Brisbane’s Charles Murdoch teams with serial seducer Oscar Key Sung for a third cut from Point. Revelling in a Future Classic signature via remix competition years ago, the aloof producer has been finely crafting his intricate structure of delicate, soulful electronic music to this highly anticipated point. Privacy is a golden example of Murdoch’s beautiful diversity in selecting vocal talent, rounding out the eight-track album it sits impressively alongside previous singles Straws and Frogs as well as in the face of his awesome back catalogue. Oozing in coastal nonchalance the lightly layered instrumentation is neither sparse nor underwhelming. The shuffling, panned hats open the door for Oscar’s tormented lyrical content, building steadily into a finely tuned sensory, early noughties garridge beat; reminiscent slightly of the ambient, Yorkshire Radio news theme which softened my ears after another Leeds United loss – although surely not Murdoch’s muse.
